The cycling trip to Myanmar, formerly known as Burma was my first cycling trip on my own. Although Myanmar is under a military dictatorship and opinions are divided whether to go or not, I am very happy that I did. The people are very friendly and happy to have you as a guest.

I had only three weeks for this trip, so some times I had to pace myself and I have cheated a bit by taking a taxi twice. Between Yangon and Mandalay I traveled by train and especially the return trip was very nice. The highlights from Myanmar I have seen were the Shwedagon Pagoda, Bagan and the Inle lake. The best cycling day was the trip to Kalaw, seven and a half hours of cycling to end up 1100 m higher. But the other days were also very nice.
